Ingredients
- Tofu (300g, adjust thickness as needed)
- Onion (1, thinly sliced)
- Spring Onion (1 stalk, thinly sliced)
- Cooking oil (2 tablespoons)
- Minced garlic (1 tablespoon)
- Gochujang (Korean red pepper paste, 2 tablespoons)
- Soy sauce (1 tablespoon)
- Sugar (1 tablespoon)
- Water (1/4 cup)
- Sesame seeds (1 teaspoon, for garnish)
- Sesame oil (1 teaspoon, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces, roughly 2x2x1cm.
2. Heat cooking oil in a pan and sauté minced garlic to release its fragrance.
3. Once the garlic is fragrant, add the tofu to the pan and stir-fry over medium heat until it becomes lightly golden and crispy, about 5 minutes.
4. While stir-frying the tofu, add gochujang, soy sauce, and sugar. Continue to stir-fry until the tofu is evenly coated with the seasoning.
5. Gradually add water to the pan, stirring to create a well-mixed sauce that evenly coats the tofu.
6. Arrange the sliced onions and spring onions on top of the tofu. Cover with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
7. Once the dish is cooked, garnish with sesame seeds and drizzle with sesame oil.
8. Serve the tofu jorim with rice.
Tofu jorim is a delicious Korean side dish known for its spicy and savory flavor. It's a great source of protein and pairs perfectly with a bowl of steamed rice. Enjoy this traditional Korean dish!
